2013 Hyperflite Skyhoundz World Canine Disc Championship Is Sept. 28-29 At Coolidge Park

Monday, September 9, 2013

The most talented canine athletes will compete in the 2013 Hyperflite Skyhoundz World Canine Disc Championship 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28-29 at Coolidge Park. The event is free and open to the public.

The 2013 Hyperflite Skyhoundz World Canine Disc Championship will include more than 120 teams from the U.S. and more than a dozen other countries including Argentina, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, The Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain.

Hyperflite will stage this year’s Skyhoundz World Championship to support the adoption and fundraising efforts of Chattanooga’s own McKamey Animal Center.

"Many of the canine athletes competing at the World Championship were rescued from animal shelters," said Peter Bloeme, director of the Skyhoundz Series.

The Skyhoundz World Championship is the premier event in canine sports and features top teams from around the world competing in a menu of disciplines designed to showcase the talents of canine athletes.

“We’re excited to be hosting the Skyhoundz World Championships again this year and for the opportunity to showcase Chattanooga to hundreds of dog-handlers and dog enthusiasts from around the world,” said Bob Doak, president and CEO of the Chattanooga Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Over the three-day event, we expect thousands of spectators. More than 200 competitors along with their spouses, family, and supporters will leave an estimated economic impact of over $373,500.”

Hyperflite sparked a canine disc revolution when it released the Jawz disc — the world’s toughest canine competition disc designed especially for dentally-obsessive canines. Hyperflite’s training products, Disc Dogs! The Complete Guide and Disc Dogs! Training DVD have introduced thousands to the health and exercise benefits of canine disc play.
