Dalton Police Seek Identity Of 2 Outback Steakhouse Thieves

Friday, May 25, 2018

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help with identifying two thieves who apparently were able to watch key strokes on a computer to steal an employee’s password and use it to break into a cash register at Outback Steakhouse. The suspects were recorded by the restaurant’s surveillance system.

The theft happened on Tuesday shortly after 8:30 p.m. at the Outback Steakhouse at 955 Market Street. The two suspects entered a separate area of the restaurant designated for carry out orders. The suspects placed two carry out orders. The suspects could be seen on surveillance watching while employees entered passwords to enter the restaurant’s computers system to enter orders and also cash out tabs. In between receiving and paying for their first order and while waiting for the second, the suspects entered a stolen password into the computer system and opened the cash till, stealing $247 in cash. The suspects appeared to know how to use the restaurant’s computer system. They then left the restaurant, driving away in some type of a silver passenger car.

The suspects appeared to be two African-American women. A restaurant employee who served the two suspects told police that the suspects might have been men dressed to appear female. The first suspect had long straight hair and wore a white or light pink bandanna on their head. The first suspect wore white Adidas sneakers and black Adidas leggings and a kimono robe with Japanese lettering on the sleeves and the back. The second suspect wore a ball cap with long straight hair, white or gray colored leggings, Adidas slip-on sandals with socks and a black zip-up jacket.

Anyone who recognizes these two suspects or has any information on this crime is asked to please contact Detective Brian Shirley at 706-278-9085, extension 9189.
