Local Antique Shop Has Auction To Benefit Alzheimer's Association

Monday, August 20, 2018

The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Chattanooga area residents to visit Vinterest Southside for a silent auction. The silent auction is set for Aug. 31-Sept. 2 and will benefit the Chattanooga Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The owners of Vinterest Southside have a personal connection to Alzheimer’s disease and have set a goal to raise $10,000. The auction will run normal business hours Friday, Aug. 31, through Sunday, Sept. 2. Donated good will include, furniture, vintage goods and services donated by local businesses.

Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.  Within Tennessee alone, there are over 120,000 individuals living with Alzheimer’s and 435,000 caregivers.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s is more than a walk. It is an experience for hundreds of participants in the area who will learn about Alzheimer's disease and how to get involved with this cause, from advocacy opportunities and clinical studies enrollment to support programs and services. Walk participants also honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease with the Promise Garden ceremony.

To learn more about the antique silent auction, reach out to Katherine at Vinterest Southside, 2121 Chestnut St., at 498-4825. To learn more about disease and available resources, call the toll-free Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900.
